Appreciating Summer

This week has sure been a busy one here at Storage Station on 26 James Street, and 29 Flint Road in Toms River, NJ. Now that the warmer weather is here, Flint Road is buzzing with activity.  All of our tenants with boats, jet skis, and campers have really been taking advantage of the beautiful summer weather we have been having. As our tenants stop in to pay their bill, or just stop in to chat, they share all of their summer adventures with me. I hear all about the great fishing trip they just got back from, or where they went on their last camping trip, and the beautiful sites they encountered.

We have a couple of tenants that store their motorcycles with us, and I am always amazed at the exciting trips they make. The one thing they do always tell me is how convenient it is for them to have a place where they can store their boat, camper, or jet skis that is close to home with easy access. This way they can still use their driveway or garage for other things without being cramped or completely out of room.  A lot of our tenants live in apartment complexes and are prohibited from parking anything other than a car, so it is really a life saver for them. One gentleman that stores his jet skis with us lives in North Jersey, and doesn’t want to tow them down every time he wants to use them, so by parking them at our Flint Street location he can just pick them up when he comes down, saving himself a lot of aggravation.

James Street has also been very busy. This is the time of year when everyone is in and out of their units either cleaning them up, or storing additional things that have been cluttering their homes.  I have been transferring tenants from smaller to larger units as they find they just need a little more space. Whatever the reason, it is good to see so many familiar faces and catch up on what everyone has been up to. Now that school is out I get to see all of the kids and am shocked at how big the have all grown since last summer. The people that store at both of our locations in Toms River have become like family to us and we are never to busy to stop and chat with them, or help them with whatever problem or concern they have in regards to their storage.  We also have a lot of new tenants that we are getting to know. I guess it’s the cycle of storage, as some of our long time families move away and empty their storage units, we find that a new family is in need of our services and new friends are made.

So let the lazy days of summer continue for as long as possible. As I look out the window on James Street I see the streets bustling with activity and it is so good to see everyone out and about enjoying themselves. We all know how fast time flies, and before we know it we will be saying goodbye to summer until next year. But until that happens lets appreciate the beautiful weather.
