There is a Chill in the Air

This morning when I scurried down my driveway to get the morning paper, I noticed that there was a white haze on the roof of my car.  I wiped a finger across it on my return trip and sure enough it was the first morning frost.  As I looked across the street I noticed that my neighbor’s lawn was full of leaves.  No doubt about it……   The leaves are flying like politicians promises when giving a speech.  Don’t get me started on the present crop debating on TV.   Someone said to me the other day, that if you put them all together you might come up with a squirrel’s brain!  I am not sure that is being very kind to squirrels.

The wife has started my list of chores to address the coming winter.   She pointed out the other day, that I need to check out the Snow Blower and make sure it is ready for the expected winter storms.  I told her that I was going to work on it as soon as there is more room in the garage.   She looked at me kind of funny.  I quietly mentioned that there are 2 large pieces of furniture in the garage that were either supposed to be sold or brought back to the Storage Unit.

What did she want me to do with them?   Isn’t someone supposed to pick up one of them?  Ah yes,,,  she will make a call and find out if the furniture was still wanted.  Another chore pushed off.  You know after many years, I am almost the equal of my wife.  I can bat them out of the park sometimes just like she does.

Actually I do have to get the garage reorganized.  I just might have to add some of my things to the storage units we have up in West Milford.  You know we originally had 3 units up there; we are now down to 2.   They do come in handy.

I see that the leaves are blowing around pretty good here at the storage station.  The trees are about half empty right now.  I guess we will have to address them maybe 2 more times this year.

A tenant just stopped by.  She is an interesting lady.  She stores 2 motor cycles with us.  She will be down a couple times a week, to take one of them out for a ride.  She often teases me saying that I should get one as well.  I told her the other day, that I was a little too old for one, and I also pointed out that I bruise very easily.  She said that she started riding when she was 50 years old, I could start riding just like she has.   I told her that the only motorcycle I might consider would have 3 wheels and a comfortable seat.  She laughed and called me a name I can’t repeat.  As she left the office this morning she said that there may be only a few more days that she can ride this year.   BTW, she has an inside unit, that is next to a door leading outside.   She says it is perfect for her.

We will talk again next week.  Stay warm.
