Toms River is a large township in Ocean County, New Jersey, with total population of 92,239 people (according to 2010 United States Census Bureau); which is an increase of 1.3% (or 1,533 people) from 2000 US Census.
On November 7, 2006 voters approved the change of townships name from Township of Dover (or Dover Township) to the Township of Toms River which was in effect on November 14, 2006: (note) Toms River is disambiguation of Township of Toms River.
In 2006 Morgan Quitno Press (research and publishing company based in Lawrence, Kansas) ranked Toms River as the 14th safest city in the United States, and 9th safest city in CQ Press in 2007 and 2008.
A spot light on Toms River, NJ, doesn’t end with publications, but seen in various TV and news media outlet: i.e. MTV’s Made and Jersey Shore, HBO’s original series Boardwalk empire, and original The Amityville Horror movie.
The colonial-style home at 18 Brooks Road, in the movie Amityville Horror, was up for a sale for $1.35 million. According to the current owners, Odalys Fragoso who purchased the house with her husband Joe in 2001, said “It’s not haunted … it’s a beautiful home.”
Contraire to what people think and believe about the 18 Brooks Road home, from the movie, the real Amityville murders took place in Long Island house at 112 Ocean Avenue, but the scenes were filmed in Toms River home where structures were built around the home to make it look like the Amityville one.
In 1998, Toms River East Little League won the Little League World Series, and organizers for the township’s parade claimed that their annual Halloween parade is the second largest parade in the world.
The township has a total area of 52.9 square miles (41.0 land and 12.0 water) filled with fun-filled activities including sailing, fishing, river walk tours, Planetarium, Boardwalks in Toms river area, and golfing.
Estimated median household income in 2009 is $70,493 ($68,342 New Jersey), and estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $299,900 ($348,300 New Jersey).

Two or more races population consist only 1.5% (1,408) and other race alone completes the chart with 0.1% or 106 people.
